Intel(R) Fortran Compiler Documentation Index

If you are new to the Intel® Fortran Compiler, see the Getting Started Guide. Read the Disclaimer and Legal Information.

Note

For increased readability, <install-dir> is used throughout this document in place of /opt/intel/fc/9.1xxx/ (where xxx represents the 3-digit build number). All compiler files are installed below <install-dir>.

The following table lists the documentation included with the Intel® Fortran Compiler for Mac OS*.

Document Description
Intel® Fortran Compiler Documentation This is the main reference and user's document for the Intel Fortran Compiler. The compiler documentation is provided as online help files in HTML format. The Intel Fortran Compiler documentation contains the following information:
  • Welcome to the Intel Fortran Compiler: describes major components, new features, related publications, and the product website.
  • Building Applications: describes building applications with the ifort command, using the command line environment, customizing the compilation environment and process, mixed language programming with C++, using debuggers, and using libraries.
  • Compiler Options: provides reference information about all compiler options, option name and syntax, default values, and a detailed description.
  • Optimizing Applications: describes how to optimize applications, including various optimizations, profiling applications and related profiling tools, coding guidelines, parallel execution, and using optimization-related directives and intrinsic procedures.
  • The Intel Fortran Language Reference (PDF document) describes the Intel Fortran programming language, including intrinsic procedures. This document describes Intel Fortran language elements and visually identifies Intel Fortran extensions to the Fortran 95 standard.
  • The Intel Fortran Libraries Reference (PDF document) describes the library procedures in the various Intel Fortran libraries and provides an alphabetic listing of the library routines.

README Brief overview of the product, folder map for key product components, and links/pointers to information of importance to users both before and after product installation. Before installation the README document is located at the root level (for example, same level as the installation script/executable) of either the installation CD or the electronic download package. After installation the README document is located at:
<install-dir>/doc/README.txt
Product Release Notes The Product Release Notes contain the most up-to-date information about the product. The information in the Release Notes includes:
  • Overview information (including new features and product contents)
  • System requirements (hardware and software requirements for installing and using the product)
  • Known limitations
  • Technical support (links to contacts for reporting problems and getting support)
Before installation the Release Notes document is located at the root level (for example, same level as the installation script/executable) of either the installation CD or the electronic download package. After installation the Release Notes document is located at:
