Measuring weather
Measuring weather, continued Both in situ and remote measurements are used, for example, to estimate precipitation. And both methods have pros and cons.In situ measurements are typically very accurate, but they do not always represent a large area, since they are just a point measurement. Remote measurements provide much greater area coverage of their observed fields, but detailed information about a point is not readily available. That may be just fine for an area where very few in situ observations will be made anyway, like over the ocean. Let's take a look at both types of measurements now.
