Dear CMMAP E&D colleagues,<p></p>

On Friday afternoon, day after tomorrow, for the last event of our retreat, I'll be running a humanities-style "activity" focused on thinking about the emotions associated with climate change. (For us, activity typically means some reading ahead of time, then maybe a little solo work, and then a conversation.) We will have a big head start if you will please read a short essay first. It should take you no more than 10 minutes and I'm pretty certain you'll find it thought-provoking.<p></p>

It appeared in one of the New York Times blogs, but to make it more convenient (and to avoid the potential exceeding-of-NYT-monthly-budget problem),
