Subject: Plans for CFMIP-2

Dear all,

I am emailing you as a participant in CFMIP and/or the CFMIP/ENSEMBLES
meeting in Paris earlier this year. Since the Paris meeting we have been
working on our plans for CFMIP-2, drawing on the recommendations from that
meeting, and from subsequent discussions.

These are now detailed in a report which we will submit next week
for consideration at the WGCM meeting in Hamburg on 3-5th September 2007
( see http://www.clivar.org/organization/wgcm/wgcm.php )

The report is available at http://cfmip.metoffice.com/cfmip2, or can
be found from the front page of www.cfmip.net. It contains a two
page summary of key issues for consideration by WGCM, as well
as a detailed description of our plans for CFMIP-2.

If you have any comments specific to the recommendations we are
making to WGCM, we'd appreciate receiving them by the end of
this week or by Monday at the latest. We'd also welcome comments
on our broader plans, which will continue to evolve over the
coming months.

If you are at a modelling institution, we'd also appreciate it
if you could ensure that your WGCM representative is aware of your
views on our plans ahead of the meeting. The WGCM members are listed
at on the WGCM website above.

thanks for your help.

Mark Webb

Dear participant to the CFMIP/ENSEMBLES workshop,

Thank you very much again for your active participation in the Paris
CFMIP/ENSEMBLES workshop! Jean-Louis, Mark and I hope that you enjoyed the
meeting and the discussions as much as we enjoyed them. We think that the
meeting has been extremely valuable to shape the emerging CFMIP-GCSS and
CFMIP-ENSEMBLES collaborations, and it will contribute a lot to the
definition of CFMIP-2 (we will start writting the CFMIP-2 proposal in the
next few weeks).

The workshop showed that we can keep talking about clouds for three days
without making them appear too much in the sky. For those who are not
convinced that April in Paris always looks like that, we will be happy to
repeat the experiment for another meeting!

We would like to make the workshop presentations available online on the
CFMIP website. If you wish to make any modification in your presentation
before it is posted on the Web, please feel free to do it and send us a
revised version as soon as possible. After May 20, unless you tell us that
you prefer your presentation not to been made available online, we will
use the version we currently have on the workshop's laptop (if your
presentation had not been put on this laptop, please send it to us).

Thank you again for your contribution to the workshop, and see you another
time for another workshop on cloud feedbacks!

Cheers,

Sandrine, Jean-Louis and Mark
