CMMAP Breakout Session 3:  Low Cloud Feedbacks<p></p>

We would like to solicit short (15 min or less) contributions to the Low<br />
Cloud Feedbacks breakout session on Wednesday afternoon. We will have time<br />
for at most five talks.  The main goal of the session is to define a<br />
practical configuration of MMF (including specific runs) or appropriate<br />
other numerical experiments that will further our scientific understanding<br />
of low cloud feedbacks on climate sensitivity to anthropogenic greenhouse<br />
gases and/or aerosols, as well as the simulation of low cloud climatology in<br />
MMF. For instance, would an MMF with dx = 1 km (but still 64 vertical<br />
levels) and increased dz below 4 km be significantly more credible than the<br />
present MMF in simulating shallow cumulus regimes?  Will CMMAP-supported<br />
physics improvements (e.g. SGS turbulence) help affordably achieve this<br />
credibility? What is the role of idealized, single-column, or limited-area<br />
modeling in this area?<p></p>

We will try to reserve the part of the session after the break for<br />
discussion and formulation/discussion of our short term and long term goals.<br />
A final agenda will be emailed to all CMMAP participants on Friday.<p></p>
