Explore the Layers of Earth's Atmosphere
This is a non-functional demo of an interactive animation (microworld) that allows learners to explore traits of Earth's atmosphere by launching a virtual baloon.
To test drive this demo:
- click the "Temperature", "Pressure", and "Altitude" sensor checkboxes
- set the "Start recording:" altitude to 4,000 meters
- click the "Release Balloon" button
Features not yet implemented:
- labels on graph
- dynamic readouts of sensors during baloon flight
- ability to toggle between graphs of various traits measured (temperature, pressure, etc.) or to display multiple traits together
- export data to spreadsheet
- do multiple balloon flights to fill in data collected
- ability to zoom in and out (adjust size scale)
- ability to adjust simulated time scale (virtual minutes per actual second)
- advanced level: need to decide instrument package composition and frequency of recording/transmitting data based on weight and electrical power constraints
