The Center for Multiscale Modeling of Atmospheric Processes (CMMAP) hosted
its third annual CMMAP Graduate Colloquium July 21-24, 2009 in Fort
Collins, Colorado.
The CMMAP Graduate Student Colloquium was an opportunity for CMMAP graduate
students across seven institutions to develop contacts and to learn together in
a small group setting that is specifically designed to meet student's needs.
The 2009 Colloquium focused on the theme of climate policy and politics. The
interactive sessions included roundtable discussions with policymakers at
various levels, mock global climate negotiations, a workshop on communicating
climate change, and the
presentation of original student research.
The colloquium was an opportunity for students to learn about the latest
developments in climate policy debates and discuss the roles and
responsibilities of climate scientists in the policymaking process.
This CMMAP activity was scheduled directly before the CMMAP Team Meeting, to
give our participants a chance to easily attend this event which ran July
28-30.
