What happens inside a cloud?

An amazing thing about clouds is the diverse range of processes occurring inside them. When you talk about what happens inside a cloud, the discussion must involve sizes ranging from microns to kilometers. So, we will break up the processes that occur in clouds into sizes.
  1. Micro-scale processes
This is the smallest scale. These are processes that actually form the cloud and form rain droplets, hail, and snow crystals - condensation and freezing.

  2. Cloud-scale processes
These are processes working on a scale the size of clouds themselves.

  3. Large-scale processes
Individual clouds are often a part of an organized system. These are processes encompassing a larger system of clouds.

  4. Making Rain
So what does it take to make rain anyway?
Let's look at these processes more closely!
