presentation and part discussion about running slikrock jobs.
Here is some additional information for
running on slikrock.
- Bodhi's Little Known MacOSX Tricks & Shortcuts:
Bodhi Gerfen, 8/3/06
Here is a large subset of what Bodhi showed off at this TRD. It's not
everything but most. BodhiTricks.pdf
- Pages: Dave Randall, 7/27/06
Pages is in /Applications/iWork* and is a very useful word processor.
We hope that by early 2007, it will have the necessary addtions to be a
replacement for Framemaker.
- Text Editors & Word Processors: Kelley
Wittmeyer, 6/8/06
This is a general overview of our text editors and word processors
available in the group.

- Mathematica: Ross Heikes, 5/25/06
Mathematica is a powerful mathematical tool, plotting program, equation
manipulator, etc. Graphics output is very nice. Here is Ross' notebook
examples page from the May 25 TRD:
thing1.nb. Here is one he did in
2005: ross-mma.
- MathType: Celal Konor, 5/11/06
MathType is one of the equation editors we have. It has a hook into
Microcrap Word but works well with other applications as well.
- EZPLOT & New File Formats: Mark Branson, 4/27/06
EZPLOT is a rabbit-made IDL program that reads in many types of data files
and in particular, our GCM (BUGS) output. It can do a number of manipulations
on files, display in different ways, output nice plots of different types for
inclusion in papers, etc. Here is the
EZPLOT Homepage to learn
how to get started.
- Create & Stone Apps: Kelley Wittmeyer, 4/13/06
Create is a program by Stone Design that we've used for many years. Many
group members use this for posters, presentation graphics and web design. It
couples nicely with the other Stone apps that will be presented. A tar file
of the Create presentation may be found
here.
- netCDF Operators (NCO): Don Dazlich, 3/30/06
NCO is a suite of programs known as "operators" that is run under the unix
command line on all of our systems. The operators take netCDF files as input
and perform operations on them depending on the NCO command and qualifiers
you use.
You can derive new data, manipulate metadata, do a number of statistical or
arithmetic operations on the data or simply look at the data or data structure
of the file.
- CDAT / VCDAT: Mike Toy, 3/9/06
VCDAT is a modem output vizualization program by PCMDI. It has some
excellent features, can create many types of plots and animations and has
built-in mathematical functions and maps. It is GUI-based on a python
scripting language platform. Email Kelley to get it in installed.
